    Return of Shipley Wayzgoose

I’m delighted that Roger and Nick have been able to host again the Shipley Wayzgoose. It’s my local fair — so I’m biased! — but it’s a wonderful day meeting great people.

11 June 2022, 11am to 4pm at the Kirkgate Centre, Shipley.

The Wayzgoose now has it’s own Insta account, too.

    St Bride Virtual Wayzgoose

Despite Covid restrictions, the letterpress champions at St Bride are organising a virtual wayzgoose. Details below!

Due to the ongoing coronavirus restrictions in the UK, we have decided to host a virtual wayzgoose on Sunday 11 July from 10am–1pm BST online via the St Bride Foundation Twitter and Instagram accounts.

    https://www.instagram.com/stbridefoundation

We are inviting letterpress practitioners, printers, and associated trades to share their wares with us on the day using the #SBFWayzgoose.

All you will need to do is create an Instagram/Twitter post between 101pm BST on the 11 July sharing:

    • A photograph/s of your work
    • A link to your website/work/online shop
    • A short description of who you are and what you do
    • Include the #SBFWayzgoose
    • And tag us in the post using @stbridelibrary for Twitter and @stbridefoundation for Instagram

We will then promote anyone’s work/business who joins in on the day as long as the work being shared is appropriate and adheres to the above guidelines.

Our aim is to celebrate the fantastic wealth of creativity, trade and craft within the letterpress and printing communities around the globe, with the St Bride Library and Print Workshop championing them at its heart.

This is free – no costs are needed to take part and it is open to all. Please share this with anyone you think would be interested in taking part.

  • St Bride Event: Douglas Downing on The Dalziel Brothers

A note from St Bride on an upcoming event.

I am emailing on behalf of the St Bride Foundation where I curate their events programme as I wanted to let you know about a talk we have coming up that may be of interest to you and your fellow members.

It is being held on Friday 24 November at 7pm and is being given by Douglas Downing on The Dalziel Brothers. Douglas is a descendent of theirs so it will be a very rich and detailed talk about his research into the family and their work throughout the 60 years that they ran the Camden Press. Most notably, they cut the engravings for Edward Lear’s Book of Nonsense and Lewis Carrol’s Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass and worked with many well known artists including Millais, Whistler and Rosetti.

We are hoping to also print a keepsake for the evening in our print room too and will confirm this in the next month all being well.
