    St Bride Virtual Wayzgoose

Despite Covid restrictions, the letterpress champions at St Bride are organising a virtual wayzgoose. Details below!

Due to the ongoing coronavirus restrictions in the UK, we have decided to host a virtual wayzgoose on Sunday 11 July from 10am–1pm BST online via the St Bride Foundation Twitter and Instagram accounts.

We are inviting letterpress practitioners, printers, and associated trades to share their wares with us on the day using the #SBFWayzgoose.

All you will need to do is create an Instagram/Twitter post between 101pm BST on the 11 July sharing:

    • A photograph/s of your work
    • A link to your website/work/online shop
    • A short description of who you are and what you do
    • Include the #SBFWayzgoose
    • And tag us in the post using @stbridelibrary for Twitter and @stbridefoundation for Instagram

We will then promote anyone’s work/business who joins in on the day as long as the work being shared is appropriate and adheres to the above guidelines.

Our aim is to celebrate the fantastic wealth of creativity, trade and craft within the letterpress and printing communities around the globe, with the St Bride Library and Print Workshop championing them at its heart.

This is free – no costs are needed to take part and it is open to all. Please share this with anyone you think would be interested in taking part.

    Shipley Wayzgoose — Report

I had the pleasure of visiting the first Shipley Wayzgoose organised by the Papercut Bindery and the Print Project.  An excellent event!

Great to meet new people, like Pat Randle; put faces to names like Nick Gill, Nick Hand with his Printing Bike, and David Armes from Todmorden; and meet old friends like Graham Moss and Christian Brett.

Quite apart from the social the work on display was tremendous and the opportunity to buy letterpress odds and sods could not be passed up.

Shipley’s Kirkgate Centre was a great venue and encouraged one to linger with tea and a bun.

Shipley Wayzgoose: A hive of activity within twenty minutes of the doors opening!

Thanks to those that travelled from far and wide (and on bikes) to get to Shipley and especial thanks to Roger Grech and Nick Loaring for organising.

The popular conception is that letterpress printing is dead. While it’s true that commercial letterpress has shrunk, there are a myriad of things you can do today to either learn more about letterpress printing from the past, or equip yourself for the future.

    Submitting Your Own Events

I will be happy to publicise any letterpress-related event in the UK.  All I ask is that you use a standard format to help me keep on top of events.  You’ll need to email me with a Calendar Entry or Meeting Request from your calendering applications (like Outlook, Google Calendar, iCal etc.) with all the details: title, location, dates and times etc.  I can then import these in to my calendar.  Please use the contact form to get my email address.
